Writing With Your Unconscious

Cost: $44

VIRTUAL CLASS VIA ZOOM

HOW IT WORKS

Your unconscious is a great writing partner. Whether you write for fun, self-discovery or professionally, this blend of guided hypnotherapy and expert writing practice will unlock creativity powers you didn’t know you had.

  • 2.5 hour class

  • Hypno-writing uses guided meditation and deep relaxation (also called inductions or trance) to bypass your inner critic or automatic writing and access your unconscious. We’ll then work with a particular writing prompt.

  • The class will cycle through several rounds of trance-prompt-write.

  • Sharing with circles or a partner will be optional but not required.

  • Class is on Zoom: write via computer or by hand.

Why this works

Using hypnosis techniques allows us to bypass the default network of our conscious minds.

We go past the automatic, habitual chatter of the “talking mind,” to find new territories.

Past the thoughts we always think, the words we often use, the reactions and stories we often tell, we get to deeper material and often a surprising element of our own voices.

The inner critic sits down, allowing a more free and creative spirit to show up on the page or the screen.

This takes us to deeper, more nuanced places in our memories, emotions and imagination.

In addition to deep relaxation, we may use some breathwork and energy techniques to get into a different flow state.

  • She created a real connection between us that helped me see what was really going on, giving me clarity to start making changes. I felt safe enough to admit things that I didn't want to admit to myself, that had been pushed aside and ignored.

    — Liz

  • "I felt things shift and kept feeling the shifts for days afterward. This is the lightest I've felt in a while."

    —Kate

  • "It was like talking to my dad for the first time in years, saying the things we never had the guts to say when he was here."

    —John
